Google nest with 2 AAA batteries

I have a Google nest thermostat with two AAA batteries.

If the batteries die, will my AC and heat still turn on.
Can I use a 24 V transformer on this model for  common wire power.

If no C wire is installed and the batteries die, the thermostat will not work.

How is the thermostat wired?

Is there a C wire installed?

Yes, you can use an external 24vac transformer, but you must also use the Nest Power Connector.

For the transformer, what is a nest power connector & where do I get one?
