HVAC System doesn't start during Nest Learning Thermostat tests

Hi Nest Community,

I want to change the thermostat from Honeywell to Nest Learning Thermostat. However, my fan, cooling, heating systems wouldn't start at all during Nest tests after waiting for 10 mins. I had to change back to my Honeywell afterwards. Could you please help me check if I should return Nest? Maybe my system (Bryant 340AAV0 from 2006) is too old and Nest doesn't work for me.

Thank you!

Best regards,

Huck

Hi HuckZou,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum and for showing interest with our Nest Thermostats.

I checked your thermostat wires, which are fortunately compatible with the Nest Learning Thermostat you installed. To check on why your HVAC system does not turn on while you test it, a few questions:

  1. Are the power breakers on, and are you receiving power to your home and to the thermostat as you test your system?
  2. Are all the wires of your thermostat seated firmly in its terminals (with no loose or exposed wires)?
  3. Is the thermostat's display seated properly?

Also, please gather the power readings of your Nest Learning Thermostat by going to its Settings > Technical Info > Power, then list down the following:

  • Battery
  • VOC
  • VIN
  • IIN

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe

magically, this time it starts to work after I installed it. Do these voltages make sense though?

Hi there,

Thanks for the follow-up information. I'm glad that your Nest Learning Thermostat is now working fine. As per the power readings you provided, I can tell that there's nothing wrong with the voltages, as they are sufficient and just right to allow the Nest Learning Thermostat to work.

Let us know if you have any other questions. We're happy to help.

Regards,

Zoe
