Heat Link not working

KenV
Community Member

Heat Link appears not to work suddenly.

Have tried all troubleshooting options with regard to connecting to learning themostat  - shows unable to connect but the link is showing green light which indicates it is connected 🤔.

All looks fine but when stat is turned up, combi boiler doesn't fiee up.

Not able to turn on heating manually using Heat Link either  - lights change but nothing happens.

Who should I contact for help please.

Hi @KenV . I'm really sorry to hear that. This might be happening because of various reasons and in situations like this we perform a click test to determine if the issue is related to your thermostat or to another part of your heating system like a valve, wires or with the boiler itself. That being said, please go near your Heat Link and turn the heating on from the app and let me know if you hear a click. You should hear a click when you turn on the heating and another click when you turn it off. Just to make sure that the relay is working properly, please try that 5 or 6 times and let me know if you hear a click at every command.

Hi there.  I have performed the test as instructed and can confirm that there is a click when I try to increase the temperature using the app but the boiler does not fire. There is a similar click when I turn the temperature back down again.  I've done the yest several times with the same result which suggests to me the problem is with the link/ boiler.  Please advise next steps, thank you.

Understood. In this case we recommend performing a continuity test. For the continuity test you will need an installer with a multi-meter so we can check the continuity on the Heat Link, since it clicks when you turn the heat on and off that means the relay is working and just to double-check we suggest the test. The steps for continuity are the following:

Make sure the Heating is switched off. Use manual mode to enable/disable heating. Confirm Manual mode is on (three LEDs for 3rd gen NLT, solid Orange for 2nd Gen NLT)

Make sure the heating schedule is not pre-set to turn on the heating at the moment of performing this test.

Make sure the Heat Link has L and N, but all other wires are disconnected. To remove them, turn off the power, ask the installer to pull the wires out of the terminals and secure them, then turn the power back on.

When call for heat is ON check for continuity between terminal 1 and 2, 2 and 3.

When call for heat is OFF check for continuity between 1 and 2, 2 and 3.

Once you have the results, please let me know.
