Heating on most of the day

HandspringGuy

I’ve used NEST for years without issues but this week my device seems to be completely ignoring the schedule and turning itself on most of the day, costing me a fortune in gas (£10 per day!)

I haven’t changed any settings.

anyone else has this problem?

Mine comes on random times of the night, I turn down to 9° at night and get woken at say 2am to heating on and thermostat set to 18°.

Hi @HandspringGuy, @ciderman, thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue, but we'll sort this out together. Let's start with a few questions:

What type of Nest thermostat do you have?
Did the issue happen during installation or after installation? Was it installed by a Nest Pro or by a regular installer?
Have you recently had service or maintenance on your electrical, plumbing, or heating system?
Have you tried any troubleshooting steps before contacting us?
How many thermostats do you have?

Hi George,
It’s the Nest v 3 learning stat, it’s been problematic since installation a couple of years ago. I have tried work around such as setting schedule to minimum temp at various times of the night which does seam to help, but not ideal.
It was metalled by a pro, we had issues with a previous stat so Nest sent someone out to fit this. But that like I say was a while ago and I have factory reset since then ti try and get round issues. I have updated software too, nothing has been touched instal wise since, and we have had boiler serviced every year.  Have tried all sorts like disabling learning schedules , disabling eco, turning off radiant heat and sunblock. All a shame as this was an expensive bit of kit which now basically works as a normal stat.
We only have one stat yes.

I set schedule to come on say at 5.30am to 18° drop to 9° at 9 then we would either turn on as needed in the evening (as we have a log burner) but always set to 9° over night usually with an Alexa command, one word routine set to turn tv off lights off and previously turn heating off but after reading about turning off being an issue I set to turn down to 9° over night then start again.
I’m getting such ear ache from the Mrs when she wakes to hot house at 2am and thermostat set to 20°.

Any ideas?

George

it was fitted by a Nest approved specialist.
didn’t have issues at first. Only the last couple of months. It seems to keep the heat on all night and completely ignores the schedule.

Thank you for your answers. Can you please check if the schedule on the thermostat matches the schedule on the Nest app?
