Hi,

wondering if anyone can help me figure out if i can use a next thermostat with this setup!

Something about the O wire needing to go into the c? or a C wire conversion or something? any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's kinda hard to figure out the wiring as I cann't tell if the Blue wire is connected to the Y terminal and the W terminal, or if it is just connected to the Y terminal and another wire (possibly black) is connected to the W terminal

Ryan,

I had the nest installed but it only had heat. I thought I may have messed up so tried to start again, but now its not going through the whole set up process. Help!!

its just a blue wire connecting the Y and the W.

there is a white going into O.

Yellow going into Y.

green going into G

Red going into RH and another red connecting RH and RC

Hi pvankuyk,

Thanks for your reply.

I looked at the photo and it seems to be compatible with Google Nest Thermostat. The rest of the wiring is fine, we just need to verify where the Y and the W wire is connected on the main terminal from the HVAC unit. This way, we'll be able to tell if you really have a heat pump and where those wires are connected to.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Ryan

So the Y is connected to yellow

and there is a blue wire connecting Y to W. So W does not connect to the hvac unit. It is connected to the Y via a blue wire.

Y is connected to the HVAC via a yellow wire.

Hey pvankuyk,

Thanks for the update. I looked at the photos again and we should remove the blue wire connecting the Y and W from the old thermostat. We'll only use the white wire to the O/B terminal on Nest Thermostat, the red wire to Rh/Rc, green wire to G terminal and yellow wire to Y on Nest.

After setting all the wires, make sure to go to settings > equipment then select the right equipment type of your HVAC unit.

Let me know how it goes by replying to this thread.

Best regards,

Ryan

So we dont need a c wire connected at all?

Hey pvankuyk,

Thanks for the reply!

The C (common) wire will help to have a stable power to your Nest Thermostat. You could try the suggested wiring setup and then test how your system works without the C wire yet.

Let me know how it goes.

Ryan

So i did this. But i cant even add the device because it says its not compatible because im not doing a c wire. And the setup just keeps sending me in loops on the google home app. Its really frustrating. So i cannot even get to where im able to change the settings to make sure its the right hvac unit. I think i need a nest pro id to do the instal.
