Hold temperture on Nest Learning Thermostat

Going away for extended period and want to set heat to remain at 55 degrees.  cannot do it.  Learning Nest has a "Lock" feature that allows me to lock temp range within parameters, but the schedule overrides the lock.  How can a accomplish this goal?

If you have a schedule (or Auto Scheduling turned on) it will override your manual setting when it hits your next schedule point.  You can turn Auto Scheduling off if it's already on.  The next work-around would be to change the Mode from Heat to Heat+Cool.  Each mode has it's own scheduling so if there's a schedule for Heat, it will not be present in Heat+Cool.  Try switching to Heat+Cool, set your heating temp to 55, and set the cooling temp considerably higher - like 80 or so.

Hello JohnCNA,

I have an issue trying to set a HOLD on my Nest thermostat for a longer period of time. You reference in you previous response that you can turn the Auto Scheduling off, if it's on. How do you do it? Thanks very much.

You'll find Auto Schedule at the top of the settings page in the Nest app.  Shutting Auto Schedule off will stop it from creating any more automatic schedule entries.  The next step is to review and edit or delete the existing schedule events that you do not want.

Check the Schedule page to review the schedule(s) that you may have created.  If Auto Schedule created more schedule points, you will see them there.  A quick way to remove all schedule events is to find the Reset option on the Nest itself, and then select Schedule.  That will clear all scheduling and the Nest will just stay at whatever you set it to.

Hello JohnCNA,

I believe your response helped me through our issue. I have deleted the schedules that were set, I believe? Thanks very much for your assistance.

So if i want to keep my schedule, but set a HOLD temp.

Just go to heat/cool mode, which i dont really use, and it will ignore the schedule I have in Heat mode and schedule in Cool mode?

I want to set the complex schedule I have but once in a while i just want it to hold a temp for a long duration of time.  thank you!

I don't have air conditioning in my house so I don't have a Heat+Cool mode or a Cool mode availabe in the app.  Sooooo....the question still remains.  How can I do what every programmable thermostat in history has ever had...the ability to "hold" the thermostat at a certain temp?

To clarify, I have Auto Schedule turned off.  I created my own schedule.
