New install or has been working in the past correctly?

What system are you running, Combi or System for example???

UK I assume?

Hi, has worked in the past. Not a combi - hot water tank. This morning it was scheduled to come on at 6am. At 6am the Nest device said that hot water was 'on' but the app said it was 'off' , and the boiler itself was 'off'

OK, you have a system boiler in that case. That means in the Heat Link you will be using both sets of contacts. When activated your app and display will say on, but you need to get the hot water contacts checked in the Heat Link. I assume at present when the boiler comes on you can get the radiators to heat up?

Prove the contacts are switching as mentioned and if they are working, then you have a fault elsewhere.

Hi, thanks for your message. Yes, the heating works through the app. I don’t really understand about the hot water contacts- what are they/ how do I check if they’re working, thanks again

The contacts are for want of a better word just a switch inside the Heat Link. One for heating, another set for hot water. I would suggest if you don't know what they are you will not be able to test, in that case get a person who can. They will be able to prove that both sets are switching, and you can then prove the Heat Link is working correctly or not.

Hi there @Simon9 , thanks for reaching out here. I am sorry to hear you are facing difficulties with your thermostat. No worries, I'll do my best to assist you with it.

Has any work been done recently on the system or power cuts in the area before this behaviour occurred?

We can do a quick test on the Heat Link to see how it behaves using the Nest app. o Next to the Heat Link and open the Nest app on a mobile device:

1. Select your thermostat to access the heating controls and make sure the screen is black, heating is off.
2. Turn up the temperature until the display goes orange, heating on, and listen for a clicking noise.
3. Turn the temperature back down until the display is black again, heating off, and listen for a clicking noise again.

This is just so we can get an idea on the clicking noise from the heating side. For the hot water:

1. Go to the Nest app and select the hot water control.
2. Tap on the cogwheel in the upper right corner to go into the hot water settings and toggle the first option there off. This will turn off the hot water schedule, you can enable it back after the test.
3. Boost the hot water for any amount of time and listen for a clicking noise.
4. Turn the boost off and listen for a clicking noise again.

Let me know how it goes.

Thank you for all the input @Frustratedddd , the assistance is always appreciated.
