Hello all. We just replaced our Ecobee thermostat which had always been troublesome, with a Nest Thermostat E. Manually it worked straight away, so now I want to connect it to our Alexa so we can adjust temps via voice like we have for years. This is where I'm stuck.
We have iPhone that are incapable of running iOS 16 (they max out at 15.x). According to the Apple Store, this means we can't run the Google Home app. The Apple Home app for some reason is incapable of recognizing the QR code of the Nest - it just won't see it at all no matter what I do (plenty of light etc.)
Alexa on its own is also not able to pair with the thermostat - although I'm not sure if the Nest needs to be in a special pairing mode or something for this.
Does anyone know how to get a Thermostat E to talk to Alexa, without being able to run Google Home?

Found the solution, I had to install the Nest skill into my Alexa app, and it found the Thermostat immediately and now it works just like we're used to.
