I can't add my Nest thermostat to the Nest app

I'm not able to connect my Nest thermostat to the Nest app. I've chosen both options to add the product, scanning the QR code on the back of the nest and continuing without scanning, and neither works. When the app asks for the entry key is when the trouble starts. My Nest thermostat doesn't have a Nest option in the settings like it's asking me to look for. I've chosen so many options and deleted the Nest app and nothing works. At one point I finally entered the 6-digit key below the QR code and then it asked for the last 4 digits of the serial number. I don't have an option to choose the last 4 digits though. I'm getting nowhere and would really like to be able to use the Nest app instead of Google Home. I've removed the device from Google Home and when I reinstalled the thermostat, I was sent to Google Home to set it up instead of being able to set it up in Nest. Still, no luck getting the thermostat to connect to the Nest app.

Google Nest has set it up so that the "Nest Thermostat" gets installed ONLY in the Google Home app and does NOT appear in the Google Nest app, while the "Nest Thermostat E" and "Nest Learning Thermostat" get installed in the Google Nest app and then are supposed to AUTOMATICALLY appear in the Google Home app.

Thanks for the information! I was wondering why there wasn't an option for just the Nest thermostat in the Nest app. That's too bad only certain models work with the Nest app but it does eliminate my frustration of it not working!
