Incorrect Temperature Reading

TripleJ

I have a remote temperature sensor that the battery went dead on a while back.  Finally got around to replacing the ($25!) battery and now the sensor only reads -205 degrees.  I deleted it, pulled the battery and reinstalled a couple of times with the same result.  Any ideas?

Hey TripleJ,

Sorry for the delay here and also to hear about your Nest Temperature Sensors. I also appreciate that you've already tried these steps.

Have you also tried performing a factory reset on your thermostat, set it up again then reconnect the Nest Temperature Sensor? If you've not tried that yet, please give it a shot and let me know how it goes.

Best,

Melba

Same problem this morning. One of my sensors was reading -337 degrees which kicked my furnace on.  I switched control to the thermostat, for now, while I figure it out.

My cleaning person must have dunked my sensor in soapy water cause it's wet. Urgh!

Hey Davech,

Oh no, sorry to hear about your Nest Temperature Sensors. You might want to gently wipe it with a soft cloth. Hopefully, it will be back to working as it should when it dries.

Hey there,

How's it going with your Nest Temperature Sensor? Did wiping it with it with a soft cloth help?
