I recently moved into a new home and planning to install my Nest thermostat. The existing system has a Honeywell thermostat already in place, so I removed it from the wall. https://i.postimg.cc/QM3d8Kvs/1.jpg
Here are all the wires I have for installation where the Nest thermostat will be placed. There were no labels. Only the red and white wires were utilized https://i.postimg.cc/RV20YDRW/2.jpg, while the remaining wires were concealed within the wall. https://i.postimg.cc/d31FBYyL/wires.jpg
However, when I checked the basement, I found a Honeywell box connected to the system. I'm unsure whether I need to remove this box before installing the Nest thermostat or if I can proceed without any issues.

Hello timmylogue,
Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community forum. I'd be happy to take a look into this for you.
Installing a Nest Thermostat is a great step towards modernizing your heating and cooling system. From the images you provided, it seems like you have a straightforward setup with the red and white wires being used for your previous thermostat. But these wires are typically used for power and 24 volt common, and the Nest Thermostat needs specific wires to control the heating and cooling systems.
If the Honeywell box is simply a part of the HVAC system and not directly connected to the thermostat's operation, you should be able to proceed with installing the Nest thermostat without removing it. However, if the box is connected to the thermostat or plays a crucial role in your HVAC system's functioning, I'd suggest consulting with a professional technician to determine whether it needs to be removed or reconfigured.
Let us know if you have more questions in mind.
Best regards,
