Manage Sensors on iOS Freezes Nest App

When I select the Manage Sensors command for a particular Nest Learning Thermostat on my iPhone 13 Pro, the entire Nest App freezes completely.

What can I do?

very occasionally when servers are overloaded there can be issues such as this, you may need to either wait until tomorrow, or try deleting and reinstalling the app (IT is a crazy field)

servers can sometimes overload because one goes offline for routine maintenance, or upgrades, so others servers take more load... causinging this issue occasionally.

This has been happening repeatedly over a number of days. It does not seem to be related to any server overloading. It works OK on my iPad Pro, but not on my iPhone.

I also just tried deleting the app and re-installing it. It still does exactly the same thing - freezes, and I have to exit the app and restart it.

Hey normkelly,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this. No worries, we'll check this out. What is the iOS version of your phone? What is the mobile app version? When did you first encounter the issue? Does this happen often? Could you try clearing the cache and force close the Nest app to see if that helps?

I appreciate the help, RnAElec.

Thanks,

Archie

iOS version is 16.1.1 and the App version is 5.70.0.4. This hang happens every single time I try to use the Manage Sensors menu item on either of my two Nest Learning thermostats. Once the app is hung, the only way I have to use it again is to force-quit it, and restart it. However, as soon as I choose the Manage Sensors menu item again, the app freezes again!

I am not sure how to "clear the cache" though, so I haven't tried that. Can you tell me how to do that?

Thanks,

Norm

Hi normkelly,

Best,

Jenelyn

Yes, it still freezes as soon as I select the Manage Sensors menu item. The app totally locks up, and I have to quit the app altogether in order to get it to respond again (after I restart the app, of course).

Thanks,

Norm Kelly

Hello Norm,

I know it has been a while, but I wanted to ensure that everything was covered here.

How's it going with the Nest app on your phone? Are you still experiencing any lagging issues?

Regards,

Mark

I still have the exact same problem. Absolutely nothing has been done to fix it.

Norm

I’m having the exact issue

Having the same issue.  I remember this happened to me a couple of years ago then it just started working again out of a sudden.  Recently, I had to delete my Google Home app and Home and had to reconnect every single device.  Ended up deleting the Nest app as well. Now, after reinstalling and adding everything back, it is happening again.  Ugh.

Same thing is happening to me.  App keeps defaulting back to the thermostat for temp control and I have to keep manually changing it thru the day.
