Moved into a home with existing nest thermostat

I am hoping somebody can help me! I am trying to figure out what is wrong with my nest thermostat. I live in an extremely cold part of the country and this was an existing thermostat when I moved in. I tried to add it to the app, but it won’t properly connect and keeps turning the heat off.
