Multiple temperature control problems with my Nest devices

Claudia700

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me as I keep waking up in the middle of the night freezing thanks to my Nest.

For the nest device in my main home:

- I've tried to scan the QR code and can't get the device to add to the Nest app. It keeps redirecting me to Google Home. The Nest does show up on Google home and I can control the temperature from there but I'm unable to turn off the automatic eco mode. I've cranked the temperature up on eco mode as much as possible but it won't allow it to be the same as comfort mode. All I want it for the set temperature to never change. I also want to be able to control the temperature from outside of my house.

For my other nest device in my secondary home:

- This used to work fine with the nest app and google home (after a struggle to make it work right). It now doesn't shows up on the nest app, and it appears as Offline on Google Home.

Literally have only had problems with the Nest from the  moment we purchased them. So ridiculously finnicky.

Please someone help! It appears as though there is no customer service support number to call so I don't know if there are other help options.

Thank you!

What model of Nest Thermostats do you have at each location.  I ask this because the Nest Thermostat can only interface with Google Home app.  additionally the Nest Learning Thermostat can interface with both the Nest App and/or Google Home App.  As to turning off the ECO mode using the Google Home app,  it is pretty simple and straight forward.

1. Open the Google Home app,

2. scroll to the thermostat, tap to open the thermostat,

3. looking at the screen below the indoor temperature, you see an image of a leaf. Tap that leaf, and select the mode you want.  Your choices will be Heat, Cool, Heat*Cool, ECO, and OFF.

As to the second home, if the Nest thermostat was added to the Nest App, it should still be there unless someone opened the Nest App and chose to “Remove Thermostat”.  The Nest App does not arbitrarily delete a registered thermostat even if you add it to the Google Home app at the same time.

If a thermostat is being shown as being “off-line”, the app is telling you that the remote thermostat cannot be seen over the Internet. This can mean that either the thermostat has lost its connection to the WiFi network at its location or the Wi-Fi connection has changed i.e. a different service or a different router SSID. As long as the Nest Thermostat has a connection to the WiFi, and the WiFi router has a connection to the Internet, it should appear online.  The only other possible failures are low battery charge, or a defective WiFi chip In thermostat.  Most likely the WiFi chipped is turned off to save energy.

Still causing issues. No matter what we do we can’t turn off eco mode and it keeps dropping the temperature on us. I have no idea why it’s not as easy as an off switch in the settings.

From either the thermostat or the app, it’s so easy to change the system mode. All you need to do is go to the system mode, choose heating, choose cooling, or choose ECO or choose heating and cooling. In the app, choose MODE, chose Heat, choose Cool, choose Heat and Cool or choose ECO.
