My 3rd gen nest thermostat has a spot on which it is hard to turn. My 2nd nest does not.

One of my two nest thermostat has one spot, after turning through the menu at which it is very hard to turn. My second thermo is very smooth. 
Checked wires and they are neatly tucked away. 
Additionally the same thermo continuously loses wifi, while installed in a spot where all devices have excellent reception.

I'm sorry that you're experiencing issues with your thermostat losing wifi as well as having a rough spot when you twist it. I know these things can be frustrating, but I'm happy to help you. 
 
I did some research and was able to find this article that may help you out regarding the wifi issues. In regards to your thermostat having a rough spot when you twist it, since you have double checked the wires are all tucked away, it may be an issue with the actual device, and we would have to take a look to see if it is under warranty still.
