I installed the nest a year ago without a common wire and it has worked fine until now. I had it off for a month as the weather didnt dictate heat or cooling. When I turned it back on, I get the N260 note. Is it because it was off? Will it recharge itself and be ok or eventually stop working? I dont know why it passed the compatibility test when I installed it and worked for a year. TIA for an tips.

Exact same thing happened to me today. I have had my Nest set up for over a year. No c wire but had been working fine to call for heat and set temp manually as needed until today. All I have needed to do throughout the year is change the batteries every now and then. Today I have an error message System Issue - n260 and the thermostat is now inoperable and not calling for heat.

Mine is still working. I have it programmed and it also works manually. The screen will not light up with proximity setting any longer though.

Same thing happened with me my husband installed it a few months ago it worked perfectly fine nothing wrong with it it passed the connector thing and now all of a sudden the beginning of the week it was freezing out so I decided to ask Google to turn the heat on the heat ran perfectly fine it was the first time I used heat because I live in Florida and we don’t usually use heat but it was cold so I wanted to get the chill out and when we had set up the thermostat we checked both heat and air and they both worked fine so anyway after that as I was walking past the thermostat is it light up anymore so I went to check it and I noticed it had this note n260. I have been researching it it says it’s a power connector problem but we didn’t have this problem before so why does this all have to be redone again with a power connector isn’t there someway to bypass it

I ended up running a common wire and it seems to have fixed it. I tried the google power supply and it didnt work.

Hello how do we run a common wire? Can this be done by us or do we need to call a professional?

I get a n260 error. I changed the batteries and ran for about 5 minutes and quit again. Did it again with the same result. HELP

Hi ozbarsi,
Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Nest Thermostat. The message that you're getting means that your thermostat might need a C wire or the Nest Power Connector to provide it with dedicated power. If you haven't yet, please check this link to learn more about this.
Thanks,
Edward
