Need Help Wiring Nest to Trane GAM5BOB

First, I forgot to take the picture of my old wiring. I know and get it, I should have done this. I have a Trane GAM5BOB36M31SBA heating unit and need help figuring the wiring diagram to the standard 6 prong nest. Cooling unit is Trane XR and only orange, black, purple, yellow, and red wires and being used at the cooling unit end. I have pics if needed. What’s confusing is the lettering at heating unit is W,Y,H1,LO, G, WJ, and B. All of these have hookups. Any help would be very much appreciated and if pics are needed no problem.

Hello dbaldridge12,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you please take a picture of the control board of your HVAC system so we can check where the other end of the wires are connected to?

I'll look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Jenifer,

Thank you. I've included a picture of the board with lettering inserted in the picture as this was very hard to get an angle on. Also included a picture of wiring to outside cooling system to give you an idea of wiring. (Standard 8 wire setup) If I need to go back and take a pic of where wire nuts connect therm wire to these running into the board let me know.

Hey there,

Thanks for the photo. One more thing, can you please share another photo showing the wire that's coming out of your wall?

Thanks,

Jennifer

Jenifer,

Here is a picture of the thermostat wiring. I mistakenly said 8 wire in the last post and it's actually 9. (White, Yellow, Red, Brown, Black, Grey, Green, Blue, and Orange) Please let me know if you need another picture of this wiring connecting to the heating unit board wires. If possible, in the event this nest is incompatible, could you provide wiring diagram to an option with more terminals?

Thanks,

Dustin

Hi dbaldridge12-5,

I'm sorry for the late reply. Looking at your wiring, it's possible that it's proprietary. Proprietary systems aren’t compatible with Google Nest thermostats. However, some proprietary systems can be rewired by a pro installer to be compatible. Contact a Nest Pro here.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hi dbaldridge12-5,

I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Thanks,

Edward

Edward,

Thanks. I am still trying to get the unit wired. Even if this requires getting a new thermostat. I’d be happy to hear any advice. If you need, I can provide pic of thermostat wiring to heat unit. From this I thought we should be able to determine wiring.

thanks

Hello there,

Thanks for getting back to us. Yes, kindly provide us the photo of your thermostat wiring to the heating unit so we can take a closer look into this.

Best,

Jennifer

Edward/ Jenifer,

Here are pics of wiring at the heating unit. To make this concise, there is wiring from the the thermostat (incoming), unit red wire on bottom left (unit 1), therm wire to outdoor cooling unit (outgoing), and to the board through the wiring harness sent in a previous photo (unit 2). From the thermostat wiring diagram is as follows: yellow (incoming) to red (unit 1), orange (incoming) to orange (outgoing), blue (incoming) to blue (outgoing) and blue (unit 2), red (unit 1) to yellow (outgoing) and yellow (unit 2), green (unit 2) to green (outgoing), red (incoming) to red (unit 2) and red (outgoing), black (incoming) to black/white (outgoing) and white/light red/ grey (unit 2). The only wiring harness wires (unit 2) coming directly from the thermostat wiring (incoming) are white, grey, red, light red, yellow, blue, and green. (you'll notice that all of these colors aren't connected on the board from the previous picture) Also, red wires on bottom left (unit 1) go back to a aquaguard pan switch. Please let me know if there is anything else needed.

Hi dbaldridge12-5,

I'm sorry for the late response. Looking at the wiring of your heating unit, it will be best that this will be physically checked by a Nest Pro. You can use the link I've provided previously to contact a Nest Pro.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hey there,

I know the answer we've provided may not be what you're hoping for but have you  had the chance to have your system checked by a Pro?
