We've had our nest thermostat for around a year (inherited from previous home owner) without any issues. We recently unplugged it wall mount it, and now it's just saying "to use thermostat, attach display to its base". It is on the base correctly, we took it off and reattached it waiting for the "click" to ensure it was on. There is a flashing green light on the front, that I read may mean it's got stuck during a software update. I've tried to manually restart the device by holding down but nothing works.
Can anyone tell me why my thermostat no longer works?

Hi Mel,
It's ok thanks, I've been through live chat support with Google who've confirmed after two hours of troubleshooting the unit is faulty and needs replacing.
Sadly as its out of warranty we have to buy a brand new unit which is really disappointing but here we are.
Thanks for trying to assist me 🙂
