Nest 3rd Gen Thermostat display is blank and green light blinking

Just noticed the screen of my 3rd gen Nest Thermostat was blank and green light blinking.  I tried holding the unit in (10s) to reset but then the blinking light turned red then yellow and back to green  - still no screen.   I removed from the base and tried plugging a USB cable an left it charging for the day.  That did not fix the issue - still no screen and still blinking green light.

Can you hear a clicking or buzzing noise from the display? You have to be very close, put your ear to the display.

Hi @ddeoliveira

I appreciate you taking the time to post in the community. I’m sorry to hear that your Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Gen is not powering up. I’m more than happy to help you.

Could you please reply to this post with the following information:

  1. When did the issue start?
  2. Have you received any error messages like no power to Rh on your Nest app?
  3. Have you taken a look at the wiring of your thermostat to confirm that all wires are well connected?
  4. Have you tried to connect the thermostat to a personal computer and confirm if the computer can detect the device?

In the meantime, you can take a look at the following article: Troubleshoot when your thermostat won’t turn on.

I’ll be waiting for your reply.

Regards,

Derick.

Issue started a while ago but didn't notice till I tried to turn the heat on.  I tried charging the battery up with the USB charger and also tried hooking up to my computer.  Computer did not see the device.  I assume the thermostat is just broken at this point.  I ordered a new one.

Hi there!

Thanks for letting us know, and thank you for trying the troubleshooting I provided before. If the thermostat does not respond even when connected to a computer, it most likely stopped working.

Please don't hesitate to contact us back if you have any other questions.

Best regards,

Derick.

I did ask the question about a clicking buzzing noise, but you didn’t bother to respond!
