Nest Constantly Signs Me Out

justonwo
Community Member

For the past few months, my Nest app has been signing me out more or less after each instance of using the app. If I use it in the morning and go back to the app an hour later, it will have signed me out. This creates quite a nuisance for user friendliness.

I'm using the Nest account. I haven't yet migrated to Google. In fact, I can't actually migrate to Google even if I wanted to (long story). I spent about 2 hours on the phone with Google support and they weren't able to figure it out.

So for now I'm using a Nest account, which is fine by me. I don't want to migrate to Google unless it solves this problem of signing me out. But getting signed out many times per day is a real nuisance. Does anyone have a fix?

Surely, I’m not the only person with this issue.

Hi justonwo,

Thanks for the information. I'd like you to check these to your phone settings which also affects your Nest App's performance.

For Android device:

  1. Set your phone's Date and time settings manually. Make sure that the time on your phone is correct and reflects your current timezone.
    1. Settings > General > Date and time.
    2. Toggle off and on. Automatic date and time.
    3. Check the box for Automatic time zone.
  2. Enable permissions.
    1. Settings > Apps > Nest > Permissions.
    2. Set Location to Allow all the time.

For iOS device:

  1. Go to Settings > General > Date and Time.
    1. Tap Set Automatically. Toggle it off and then back on.
    2. Make sure that the timezone, date, and time are correct.
  2. Enable permissions.
    1. Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Nest.

If possible, or someone from your home member devices, try installing and logging in to the Nest App and check if the app works with no issues. Then, monitor it and keep us posted on how it goes.

Best regards,

Mark

Hello justonwo,

I'm sorry for the delayed response. We appreciate you trying to find a fix by contacting our Technical Support Team about the Nest app. Let's find out more about what happened.

A few questions:

  1. What is the make and model of your mobile device?
  2. What is your phone's operating system?
  3. What is the Nest App's version?
  4. Have you tried using a different mobile device with the Nest App?
    1. Are you having the same issue?

Looking forward for your response.

Thanks,

Mark

1) iPhone 12 Pro.
2) Latest iOS, though this has been an issue across multiple versions.

3) Latest Nest app version, though this has been a problem for months. I always keep apps up to date.
4) Have not tried on another device. Don’t have one.

Hello??? It would be nice to resolve this issue in a reasonable timeframe.

I answered your questions. Can you please help me??

I am having THE SAME issues - you are NOT ALONE! I am using a Surface Pro 6 tablet and Windows 11 operating system. The app is OPEN and when I switch tabs to see the camera view, Nest signs me out and makes me sign back in - this happens SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. When I use my Android Galaxy S22, the page loads in 2 seconds without making me keep signing in. Sometimes while I'm waiting for the Surface page to load, I use my Android to see who is at my door or on my property. By the time the Surface app loads, they are long gone. I would LOVE to know what to do to stop this from happening - its ruining my otherwise good experience with Google's Nest products.
