Nest E Thermostat doesn’t set up / turn on

a while ago a pro helped set up my nest.

the heatlink works and I can turn on or off the heating.

However, I can’t set up the thermometer in the app.

it simply doesn’t connect - and the screen never turns on.

WiFi and Bluetooth are working fine.

i have since bought a second, but the issue is still the same.

neither connect or turn on.

i get an error after scanning the QR code on the base

Any help or guidance would be appreciated

Hi Tomjhume,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I am sorry that you are having issues with your Nest Thermostat E when setting it up. I'd be happy to help you. Let’s check it out.

Before we get started with further troubleshooting, let me ask you some important questions:

  1. When was it installed?
  2. Do you have more than one thermostat?
  3. Is the thermostat display on a stand?
  4. When did the issue start?
  5. Is there a wiring report or error message on your thermostat and/or app?
  6. Do you see a blinking LED light? If so, is it red or green?
  7. Has there been any recent work done on your thermostat(s) or heating system?
  8. Were there any power outages?
  9. What troubleshooting steps have you done?

Here are some basic steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue in the meantime:

  1. Power Cycle the Thermostat: You can check the following article to Restart or reset a Nest thermostat depending on your device’s model.
  2. Make sure your device is correctly plugged into the power source.

Note: If you're not comfortable working with the Nest devices, consult a qualified technician.

You can also review these articles to Install your Nest thermostat and to know How to set up your Nest thermostat (3rd gen or earlier) and Nest Thermostat E.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Mario
