Has anyone had any issues with the Nest Thermostat showing incorrect humidity values? Mine is constantly saying its around 65-70% RH but I bought a humidity monitor and its reading under 10% RH below what the Nest says. I've tried restarting and resetting the nest to factory settings but I still have this issue.

Same issue here. Suddenly one of the nest learning thermostats humidity lvl jumped up 20 points to 71. Did a reset and did not fix the issue. The room is reading 51 with my other sensor.

I restarted mine yesterday and no change. However, today it seems to be back to normal. Weird.

Same problem here. 74 on nest; 45 on hygrometer.

So many months later and this is what I have...54 vs. 99 ugggghhh

Has this issue been resolved yet? My humidity level in the house is 44% but the nest is reading 68. If you know how to recalibrate the nest please let me know.

No. It resolved itself a couple weeks later.

How did it resolve itself? it’s not resolved on my thermostat since it’s still about 25% off. I can you provide instructions on how to resolve the inaccurate reading.

I did all the suggested solutions online, resetting the thermostat etc. None of them worked.
I ended up buying a sensor and putting it in the room for an accurate reading. After a some time passed, the thermostat started showing the correct humidity lvl again. This was with me not touching it the whole time.

Nest is reading 100% humidity several other monitors are reading 54%. This is not been resolved.

I ended up contacting customer support and they sent me a new unit free of charge. It's worth a shot.

I tried to do that but couldn’t figure out how. They don’t make it easy!!! I’ll try again!

Tried the same, was told it's out of warranty so they won't send a replacement.

I can't tell you how thankful I am to have found this thread. My Nest has been reading humidity levels between 60% and 80% all summer and I thought there was something wrong with my less than two year old system. I was preparing to call in an HVAC company to investigate the issue to the tune of 125$/hr. Ended up ordering two different hygrometers based on this thread, and what do you know? They're reading mid 40's humidity levels while the nest is at least 20% higher than that.

Just the thread on the issue of the Nest not reading the humidity correctly. Has Nest corrected the program issue regarding this ?

I am also having this problem, mine is reading at 78%??? My Dyson says 45.

A few questions:

Hi TF1222,
Thanks for answering Mel's questions. I'd love to know more about this. Could you check the Signal Strength value of your Nest Thermostat? You can find this by going to Settings > Technical Info > Network. Also, you mentioned that you worked with our support team already. Could you share the case number of your interaction so we can investigate further?
Thanks,
Edward

Hi Edward,
My case # was 9-2865000032694. The signal strength is excellent, my nest sits about 4ft from my router.

Hi TF1222,
Thanks for the response. I checked the case number you provided and the troubleshooting steps that you've done with out team, We checked the warranty eligibility of your Nest Thermostat and I'm afraid that it's already out of warranty. Feel free to reach out if there's anything else.
Thanks,
Edward

Hi Edward,
I'm well aware of the fact that the thermostat is out of warranty. That doesn't change the fact that there's clearly an issue here. That's why this thread exists. It's disappointing to see a company as big as Google barely acknowledge this issue and not stand behind their product. I've invested A LOT into Google's ecosystem over the years. I'll be moving on from the Nest and begin to slowly transition my other products away from Google as well in hopes to have better luck.

I've been debating this issue with the online chat tech twice now and even though the evidence was clear that my thermostat has been incorrect with both temp and humidity, I was told I should have an hvac tech check out our AC system. Well guess what? The hvac tech said the thermostat is wrong and should be replaced. His bill was $499. I bought this paperweight to try and be cognizant of climate change, but this is a piece of trash. If you're debating getting google nest, steer clear!

Sounds like we're in the same boat, Clinton. I recently had an HVAC tech out to my place as well over this humidity issue and the fan on my central air unit coming on intermittently even when off. He suspected the Nest was the culprit and told me he doesn't like them at all and recommends people replace them if possible. They ran a C-wire (Common wire) to mine because it wasn't already present and he said this can cause all kinds of issues with the Nest, including the incorrect humidity readings. 300$ later, here I am. If you take a look at other smart thermostats online, most say "C wire required" in their description, and for good reason. Sounds like my HVAC tech was spot on. I think Google got a lot wrong on these Nests, at least the first generation, and are unwilling to own up to it.

Hi folks,
@TF1222, thanks for the response and I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Upon checking the case number that you provided and the troubleshooting steps that you've done, it appears that the issue with your thermostat is the hardware itself and I'm afraid that we don't have an option to replace it since it's already out of warranty.
@ClintonJr, thanks for posting. Could you also share the case number of your interaction with our support team?
Thanks,
Edward
