Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Gen) – Farsight Weather Not Displaying / “nest.com/m2” Error

Randy22
Community Member

My Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Generation) has stopped displaying weather information on the Farsight screen. This began recently without any changes to my network or settings.

When Farsight is set to show weather, the display either shows nothing, or the thermostat gives an error message such as “Can’t get the weather right now” and sometimes refers to “nest.com/m2.”

Troubleshooting I have already tried:

  • Confirmed the thermostat is fully connected to Wi-Fi
  • Restarted the thermostat
  • Restarted my router
  • Verified my home address and ZIP code in the Nest/Google Home app
  • Updated to the latest available firmware
  • Re-enabled Farsight settings
  • Confirmed the display works for other Farsight modes (e.g., temperature)

Despite these steps, the weather still does not appear.

Additional context:

Multiple other 3rd-generation Nest users are reporting the same M2 weather error recently, so this may be a wider backend or service issue affecting weather data, not a local device problem.

Request:

Please advise whether this is a known issue on Google’s side and if there is an estimated timeline for a fix. If not, please provide troubleshooting steps beyond what I’ve already attempted.

Thank you.

Yes, here the same. According to other forums this is hitting a lot of users world wide. I couldn’t find out what Google is doing about it. No messages, no help, no info.

I have had the same issue occur today. I've tried rebooting my thermostat and wifi router but the issue is still there.

Same issue here, most frustrating.

Same issue as well on the East Coast of the States.

Another post about the issue is here: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Nest-Thermostats/Unable-to-select-farsight-on-thermostat/m-p/...

Samen issue for me (in the Netherlands)

Ditto. No info for the past two days for a Nest 3 on Long Island, NY.

My allready works.

Yeah, they just fixed it. I called them earlier today to escalate the issue.

Restarted Nest as instructed. It's working correctly now!

This morning it showed the temperature again, without even a reset!

Same here.

My thermostat has now started working again by itself, it must be a fix Google have applied remotely.

I'm from the UK and it’s just fixed automatically

I switched it to show the clock yesterday so I could at least see something useful instead of the error message. Today I switched back to the weather and now the temperature is showing correctly.

Did the same here, but still not working.

issue seems to have been resolved with my three 3rd gen nests.

nothing I tried helped, but just waited it out - and voila!

Hey google we are waiting for an update on fixing this issue, it is not a problem on our end. Pin the fix asap….. “nest.com/m2 - unable to display weather”
