Nest Learning Thermostat Disconnects for WiFi

Dominguezix1

My Nest has started disconnecting, randomly, from my home Wifi Network. I installed the Nest at the end of January (less than 3-months ago) and have not made any changes to my home Network. When the device disconnects, it also is nonresponsive to the touch. It took me more than ten minutes of tapping on the screen, pushing, and turning the dial for it to "wake up". I rebooted it, unplugged for a few hours earlier this week, but last night I think it finally died completely. This thing is less than 3 months old. I purchased it on Amazon on January 22nd, 2025 and Amazon will not allow me to process a return or replacement. Do these not come with a warranty or guarantee anymore?

Hi @Dominguezix1,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest Learning Thermostat is disconnecting from Wi-Fi and being unresponsive to touch. I'd be happy to assist you.

Since you mentioned your Nest Learning Thermostat could be completely dead, please provide the information requested below:

  • What is the model of your thermostat?
  • When did the issue first occur?
  • Is the thermostat's display seated properly?
  • Are all the wires of your thermostat seated firmly in its terminals (with no loose or exposed wires)?
  • Does the thermostat charge with a USB cable?
  • Is the thermostat showing any color of light, indicating the battery level of the display?

Additionally, I recommend removing the thermostat's display from the base and plugging in a micro-USB or a USB-C charging cable (depending on the model of your thermostat) for one hour.

Keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Anders
