I have a Nest Learning thermostat that I purchased June 16th 2020. About 4 days ago I noticed it was disconnected from the network, I thought nothing of it and let it sit a couple days to reconnect. It never did.
I started looking into it today, to try and reconnect it. I tried restarting the thermostat, resetting to factory settings, restarted the router, and tried my mobile hotspot. Nothing works, the thermostat just sits there and spins with "No networks found yet". I know my phone shows there are 2 networks accessible from that exact spot, which is about 15 feet from my access point. All my other devices, including the upstairs Nest Learning thermostat, work just fine on this network.
I contacted support and the first person stepped through the troubleshooting steps and determined the thermostat was defective. However, the warranty ended on June 16, 2022; 8 days before it stopped working and 12 days before today. The support person even said they would otherwise send me a replacement device but for the 12 days that have passed since the warranty expired. This first person abruptly ended the chat when I asked for a point of contact to escalate the support ticket.
So I called support instead, this time the person was a bit nicer but the outcome was the same. After escalating to "senior support" I was declined a warranty exemption. Angela and Angie told me to buy another thermostat to solve the problem.
Is this normal for these thermostats to fail just after warranty? Is it normal to be declined service just 12 days after the warranty? Surely there has to be a reasonable understanding that 12 days isn't too long to request an exemption/extension.

I’m having the same issue…won’t connect to internet but the device works otherwise. A buddy of mine told me it could be an issue with the wiring. Something with the yellow wire. I gave up…nest has horrible customer services. Going to buy a google thermostat at this point.

I had the same problem with my thermostat. But, because I had purchased it at COSTCO they would only repair it. So, after a long time, I received the repaired thermostat. It has worked fine until last week. I'm having the same problem. The thermostat will not charge on the wall and when I charge it with a charger, the charge only lasts for a day or two. I'm really disgusted with all the Google products. The speakers drive me crazy and the doorbell has such a long lag response that the person it spotted is gone when I receive a notification. Also. because I cannot control the range sensitivity, every car that passes produces a notice. Range setting is free with the Ring doorbell

The same happens to me. I bought this thermostat because it was the best, and the most expensive.
The WIFI module is broken and the solution is to buy a new one. They do not repair them and they do not sell loose parts.
Bad policy they are doing, they should take measures to solve these problems. It is not normal to have to buy a thermostat every 2 years.

Hey there everyone,
I apologize about the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you still experiencing this Wi-Fi issue? If so, I'd be happy to help out, as I can imagine this issue is pretty frustrating. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:
When the Nest Thermostat is low on battery/power, it will automatically disconnect from the Wi-Fi to save energy.
I look forward to the responses on this, and if you had any other questions or concerns, please let me know.
Best regards,
Jeran

I do not have a Common Wire/C connected to the thermostat. I’ve realized that the problem is the battery won’t hold a charge anymore and Google does not sell replacement batteries. I find this to be outrageous for such an expensive item. Because I cannot purchase a replacement battery, I will have to buy a new thermostat (I do not want to remove the thermostat every night to charge it for the next day.) Let me assure you that I will not be purchasing another Google Nest Thermostat.
I also will not purchase any more Google Assistants (speakers) of which I presently have 11. The software that operates them is not ready for prime time. The software has so many flaws. Yes, I am one of those customers who get so frustrated that I scream at the speakers.

The problem is with the Wi-Fi board of the NEST thermostat.
It is all connected with the power supply provided and has been running for 2 years.

Hey danburyarea,
I am sorry for the trouble, and to hear about the device no longer holding a charge. If you do not have a C wire, you can try installing a Nest Power Connector to your system. This will provide you with a stable power source. Please let me know if you have any questions from here, as I would be happy to review.
Best regards,
Jake

The problem is I do not have a "C" wire for the thermostat. It has functioned without a problem for approximately 2 years. Now the battery is not charging on the wall. I must remove it from the wall mount and charge it with a USB cable. I am lucky if I get 2 days to function before, I must charge it overnight with the USB cable again.
The simple solution would be to replace the battery. A new battery would give me another 2 years of uninterrupted use, But, Google does not sell the replacement battery and there are no aftermarket batteries that will work with the 3rd generation learning Nest thermostat.
It is simply disgusting that Google does not offer a replacement battery for a product that costs $250.00. When the time comes, I will not replace the Nest Thermostat with a Google/Nest product.
Google sells a product that plugs into an outlet and powers the thermostat. I do not want a wire running along the baseboard and up the wall to power the thermostat.
I am going to try a workaround I found on Utube. Move the green fan wire to the "C" terminal on the thermostat Then move the green wire on my furnace to the "C" wire. This will give me the "C" connection to charge the battery. I will lose the ability to run the fan independently of the cool or heat function. However, I never run the fan by itself.
Presently, I have 11 Google/Nest assistant speakers and a Nest doorbell. While they can be great, the software is full of glitches. I find myself frequently extremely frustrated by them. The worst is when I try to run the "Good Night" routine I set up and the speaker does not respond until the 3rd or 4th time. It ruins my ability to fall asleep. I will replace them with a better products.
AGAIN, I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GOOGLE/NEST PRODUCT.

Hiya everyone,
If you've already factory reset the Thermostat, have a C-wire installed, as well as tried a Nest Power Connector, I would encourage you to fill out this form. That way, Nest Thermostat Support will be able to reach out to you to escalate this situation.
Let me know if you had any more questions, we'd be happy to help where we can.
Best regards,
Jeran

This is the text I sent them:
The thermostat disconnected from the Wi-Fi network and could not be reconnected. After several tests that indicated that I did, the problem is a fault in the wifi module. In the opinion they tell me that it is not repairable and that I have to replace it with a new one and it is not under warranty.
I changed the thermostat for the NEST because it was the best and most expensive, and the solution is to change it for a new one? Do I have to buy one every 3 years?
It is not serious and they do not provide solutions.
Thanks.
