Hey Jake,

Thanks for the reply!

I've read that my 2nd gen NEST Learning Thermostat is not compatible with my Trane XV80 furnace, but I suspect that's because of the heat pump. My system doesn't have a heat pump. I did try matching my existing thermostat's wiring with the NEST and the cooling worked but the heat did not.

Any insight or info you have is appreciated.

Many thanks,

Steve

Hey skornelson,

I would be more than happy to take a closer look for you and see if the system is compatible. Do you mind me asking if you are able to send in a picture of the current wire set up? You can also follow the link here, and it should take you to our Compatibility Checker. From there, you can also enter the wires you are seeing at it will let you know if the system is compatible.

Please let me know if that helps, and once the picture has been sent.

Best regards,

Jake

Hey skornelson,

Thank you so much for sending the pictures. Taking a closer look at those, I am seeing you have a couple of stranded wires. Do you happen to know if these wires are still connected to the HVAC system?  I am also seeing the blue wire is in the B slot on your old system. I would take a closer look at the link here, as it should help you figure out if that is really a C wire. Please let me know if that helps.

Best regards,

Jake
