Hi. Overnight one of my Nest Learning Thermostat went into being stuck with a blinking green light and no (ie., black blank) screen. I tried taking it off the wall and charging it with a usb port; also tried pressing it for 10 sec (at which point it blinks red once) and then releasing followed by pressing once; none works. It is still blinking green and unresponsive black screen. I cant follow any other restart/reset method as the screen is not turning on.
please advise!
Thanks

A blinking green light near the top of your thermostat usually means it’s updating the software, starting up, or restarting. This should only last a minute or two so if the light blinks green and its been unresponsive for more than 15 minutes, it sounds like it may have frozen during the update.
I would suggest removing and reconnecting the display by pulling it straight off the base. Make sure the pin connector is lined up correctly and push it back onto the base. You should hear a click to confirm it is properly seated. If reconnecting the display doesn't help, you can manually restart it using the steps below (the screen does not need to be on for you to do this).

I received a replacement and it is also stuck blinking green even after I charged it overnight via USB and performed everything you suggested. How do I fix this?

I thought I had replied but may have left unsent. The methods proposed do not work. The unit continues blinking green indefinitively without the screen ever starting up (or the supposedly software update finishing)… I would think the unit has some fatal error.

I discarded the non-functioning unit as there was no solution and had to buy a new one…not happy with Nest/Google…
