Hi all
My thermostat has been working brilliantly for the past 2 years and then suddenly yesterday it lost Wi-Fi so could not connect to the router, I then moved it to the room where the router was and connected to the Wi-Fi it connected but then after about 2 minutes it dropped out again, I then rebooted the router and did a factory reset on the thermostat it connected and again dropped out, I left it in the same room and went to bed this morning again I cannot connect it to the Wi-Fi also cannot updated or get a key for my phone but it does connect to my boiler controller, my question is is this a lost cause now and have to replace as they are not cheap here as I’m looking out spending another £190 - thanks

Hello folks,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with your Nest thermostat, which keeps disconnecting from the Wi-Fi network. I'd love to know more about this.
A power-related issue is one of the reasons the thermostat drops its connection in order to save the battery. A few questions: were there any instances where it showed power reports or wiring reports? If so, what's the message code? From what country are you posting? Also, please check its power readings in the Technical Info settings.
I'll look forward to your response.
Regards,
Mark

Hi there! Please try the following steps and let me know if the issue persists:
1. Make sure that the thermostat is at least 12 feet from the Wi-Fi router
2. Check for wireless interference - The following are examples of devices that may cause interference: Cordless phone, Baby monitors, Microwaves, Bluetooth devices, Wireless video equipment.
3. Check if the router has incompatible network settings. The following settings are incompatible: Enterprise encryption (also known as 802.1x and requires a username and password input.
4. Captive portal networks that require input via a web browser (to agree to Terms and Conditions, etc.); Wi-Fi Protected Setup, or better known as WPS.
4. Check if the thermostat can connect to a mobile hotspot.
5. Make sure you have the recommended network settings, for this you'd need to contact your Internet Service Provider. Here's a link where you can check out the recommended wi-fi settings: https://goo.gle/3YUQJMw
6. Restart the thermostat.
7. Reset the thermostat's network - Settings and then Reset and then Network

I've solved my own particular issues by manually designating a DNS server on my router (Google's at 8.8.8.8) A bit weird but I assume that the Nest is volatile when it comes to a slow running DNS server.
