Greetings,
We are selling our home and leaving the nest thermostat behind. Obviously, the new owner will need to establish an account to realize full functionality as a smart device (wifi, etc) and I will need to perform a factory reset to remove my account. In between the time my account is disabled and the new owner gets theirs set up, will the 'stat function the normal heat/cool cycles via manual settings? Also and most importantly, my thermostat controls the whole house humidifier too. Will that feature still work even though the 'stat is not set up with an account?
Thanks for an answer

Yes, the new owners will be able to manually control the Nest thermostat like any other thermostat.
Be sure to remove it from your account before you do the reset.
Do a factory reset to the thermostat.
Here are instructions for you.

Thanks for that info, however, to reiterate, "Also and most importantly, my thermostat controls the whole house humidifier too. Will that feature still work even though the 'stat is not set up with an account?"

So, in the end I determined that the 'stat will still control the humidifier via manual settings. However, the full reset practice does result in (among other things) having to re-configure the appropriate wire terminals as well as the type of heat system, choosing "humidifier, what activates it, etc.
