Nest gen 3 thermostat will not complete installation.

I just installed a refurbished Nest Learning Thermostat on the wall and switched on the circuit breaker- but now the screen says “thermostat shutting down” and attempts to restart after a couple of minutes with no luck.

Are you in the UK? Where did the unit come from, ie Google?

I am in Texas.

The unit is refurbished from Google Store.

The unit flashed alternating green and amber lights. I tried connecting through USB to charge the battery, per troubleshooting instructions. It still shuts down. All power connections check OK through the HVAC system.

Are you charging with a good supply, ie 5A?

Try plugging the USB in, then squeeze the display like a hamburger, keep squeezed then when you see the house release. Do that twice.

Thanks for the suggestion. It still failed installation.

I replaced the base plate and the thermostat booted and completed installation. 

I really appreciate your assistance.
