Thanks for the technical answer, very useful.
Just some context, the reason why I am interested in the US Nest Thermostats, is due to the fact that the UK Nest Thermostats cannot use the Nest Temperature Sensors.
Doing some research, it's said this is a firmware issue, do you know if the UK Nest Thermostats are to be scheduled for an update?
Also, if Nest Thermostats (UK & US) are updated to the Matter protocol, does that mean 3rd temperature sensors could be used?

Strictly speaking, yes it should work and function but from a Wi-Fi perspective it will be slower.
The 5 GHz Wi-Fi band is regulated differently around the world. Nest Thermostat units manufactured for use in the US use the 5 GHz channel in a way that is not allowed in the EU and UK. Nest Thermostats manufactured for use in the EU and UK use a different 5 GHz channel. This means UK phones/tablets will only see the US thermostat as 2.4 GHz and not 5 GHz. Since there's substantially more capacity on the 5 GHz band, because it uses wider channels, you do want to be able to use it if at all possible.

No, not heard anything of that sort. The temperature sensor has been exclusive to the US, Canada, and Mexico since it was released many years ago to the best of my knowledge.

Potentially. We don't really know a lot about what may be possible in the future yet.

Hi folks,
I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.
Thanks for the assistance, @David_K.
@Kingramo81, I did find a helpful article that would explain the difference and compatibility between the Nest Thermostats made for Europe and North America. Please let us know if you have more questions in mind.
Best regards,
Mark

@David_K- I found that article very interesting.
@Markjosephp- I did read the article and spoke to my electrician off the back of it. I have decided to purchase the UK thermostat and see what updates happen over the next couple of years.
Thanks both for the advice.
