Nest Thermostat will not connect bluetooth thermostat to app

Nest Thermostat will not Bluetooth connect thermostat to app so can control with iPhone.

wifi works and everything manually works fine. 
tried everything I can think of.

Bluetooth is only used during setup, once setup the app uses Wi-Fi to communicate with your thermostat.

Which model of thermostat do you have? You can check here:

I'm assuming you can't see your thermostat in the Nest app or Google Home app?
