Nest Thermostat will not let me reboot

My Nest Thermostat is saying “Continue setup in the Google Home app.” I have tried to connect to the internet and it states that the “C” is not showing as connected.

Also the Nest Thermostat will not allow me to reboot it.

Hello @Kauai

Thanks for reaching out. Did you continue your setup in the Google Home app? Here's a quick guide to help you get started. Here is also some information on the C wire.

Hope that helps! 🙂

The “C wire,”

mine was blue

is a power connector that helps the Nest Thermostat stay active but the majority of the power is generated by the cooling and heating wires as I read.

I believe that my problem may have been the connection to my home internet and my phone not have a higher iOS system or using a certain laptop or using any laptop. Can you respond to that to help other Nestor’s having this similar issues. Took me a day and a half (1 night without heat) to get connected by following the procedure online and not getting there until I logged into the Chrome Book.

Yes I did. Somehow the Nest got connected to the Wi-Fi and I got the Nest finally said connecting?

Hello. I got my daughter’s chrome book out and logged in and was reading the same directions on rebooting the Nest Thermostate and low and behold I finally got a response after trying to reboot again. The Google Home asked me the same questions as it did on my iPhone and then asked me to chose my internet and there it went saying connecting. So before it did not ask me to connect to my internet or have choices. This time it asked me, and my internet name was there to choose from and asked for my password.

I do not know why all of sudden it rebooted. Maybe because of my daughter’s chrome book connection. Possibly it connected but my iPhone could not connect. I wish I had an answer to exactly how it happened. I feel it had something to do with the chrome book she had and it’s connection to the internet. My iPhone is a seven maybe too old and needed a higher updated iOS.

I want to say that before I could not connect because of the “C” wire and that was not detected by my iPhone. It said “C” connection or wire not detected.” The “C” is the power line. Do state if that is correct or incorrect to let other’s know.
