Nest gets confused with temperature from sensor or thermostat

Sichen

I have a Nest Thermostat and a sensor.  Both are connected on the same wifi network, and the sensor is paired with thermostat.  Nest is configured to use the sensor’s temperature reading to control the thermostat to cool and heat the room.

Most of the time it works well.  Once in a while, though, Nest will get confused and use the thermostat’s temperature, even though the sensor is paired and connected.  In the Nest app, the sensor is checked and the sensor’s temperature is showing, but the dial is showing the thermostat’s temperature, and the Nest is heating the room based on it.

I can “fix” it by turning the Nest off for the room, and then turning it back on again after a long delay, such as a day.

Is there a way to really fix this problem?

Hi Sichen,

Thanks for bringing this up here in the Community. To know more about this issue, I'd like to confirm, how far is the distance between your Nest Thermostat and Nest Temperature Sensor? How far are they from your Wi-Fi router? Try reconnecting your Nest Temperature Sensor to your Nest Thermostat. Let us know your update here.
