Nest install without the QR/6 digit number

Is the QR code/6 digit code part of the serial number? I just bought a house with the thermostat installed on the wall. And the heater didn't work so I reset it back to factory settings. Help...

The QR code is located just inside the thermostat housing. Just gently pull on the thermostat away from the wall. You should see the QR code there. Joe

No, it is not.  Not on Gen 2.

Not with the 2nd generation. I migrated my Nest thermostat with Google and now I can’t set the app up because the 2nd generation doesn’t have a QR code or 6 digit code 😠

I should have left the Nest alone and not involved Google.

How to add nest Gen 2 thermostat to Google home app without migration from nest app

I did do that too. I’m not sure how either

This is for someone from Google Support.  Is it at all possible to retrieve the original 6 digit code from Google.  As with many posters here in this forum, mine is not located on the physical device, nor is there a QR code.  I purchased the home and unfortunately, the original packaging and paperwork is long gone.  I cannot believe it is so difficult to retrieve this code.  My thermostat is set up and on my network and is working, but I'm attempting to do some updates within Google Home app and it seems this code is required.   It's a real pain.
