I prefer to run the humidifier only when the heater is running. Instead, the nest keeps running the fan and the humidifier to attain the intended humidity for a long time (set to 35% default), which is very annoying. It would be nice if we could set a timer to control the time of the humidifier operation.

Hi @gatewayuser007,
Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties activating the humidifier with your Nest thermostat. No worries, I'm here to help.
Since you would like to run your humidifier when the heat is on, I recommend that you contact a technician for more information, as doing so may strain your system and it may not function as before.
To change the humidity of the humidifier, you can follow these steps:
Remember that for humidifiers, the Nest thermostat maintains a 6% humidity range of 1% below and 5% above the set humidity level. (Example: If you have your Nest thermostat set to 30% humidity, your thermostat activates the humidifier when the humidity level reaches 29% and deactivates it at 35% humidity).
You can activate the quiet time function on your thermostat to set a timer and be able to control the activation of your humidifier.
Let me know how it goes after trying these steps. I'm happy to assist further if needed.
Cheers,
Jonathan

Hello @sicsacol
Thanks for your detailed response. It is all helpful. Can you shed some light on the "Pro Setup" option that I see under the humidifier settings?

Hi @gatewayuser007,
Thanks for your reply. Sure, I'll be happy to provide you with that information.
Pro Setup is an advanced Nest thermostat configuration menu that lets a professional installer set up complex systems, including dual fuel systems, humidifiers, and dehumidifiers. To access Pro Setup after the initial setup, follow these steps:
On the Nest thermostat, go to Settings > Equipment > Continue > Continue > Pro Setup.
When you get to that part, it will show you your wiring configuration. Make sure all the wires appear in green. If you see any wire in another color, please let me know, as that means it isn't working properly.
Please let me know if you have any questions from here, as I'd be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.
Regards,
Jonathan
