My thermostat was working. Then all of a sudden the thermostat didn’t turn on and it stopped working. So we thought maybe it was the battery. We changed the two batteries and now it is stuck in the “G” and “starting up… “written underneath it.it flashes as if it starting up and then disappears and then G appears and the G moves up with “starting up…” again written underneath. It just keeps doing that over and over. It’s now been about 25 mins doing this cycle again and again. I thought maybe it really is starting up but doesn’t seem to actually be doing anything else. I don’t remember it doing anything like this when I first got it.
I tried the following a few times as well: holding it down for 10 seconds to reboot. Tapping it and Then it does the same thing again with G and starting up.
Cant seem to get out of this. Not sure why it won’t actually start up.
please 🙏🏽 help!

Try removing the batteries again wait a few mins and reinstall them.
Then reattach to the base.

I removed them, then put it back on base and it keeps doing the same cycle as described before where the G comes on in the middle slides up and the it says starting up and then disappears. Two seconds later it the G comes on again and the cycle reneging.
the wiring is good as it was working before but I checked the wiring as well just in case. The c wire is in as it was before when it was working. This was working properly a few days ago and just stopped.
any other ideas?

Only thing I can think of is use a multi meter set for AC voltage and test R to C wires to confirm you have 24 -30 v a.c.
Or if no meter try removing the batteries and install it on base see what happens.

After it is working again check you have correct power coming to the Nest.
Go to Equipment, Power Status
Look at the Vin voltage it should show 24-30v if not you need to install a C wire or the Nest power adapter if you cannot install a C wire.
