Nest not turning heat on

Recently, from time to time, the nest thermostat isn’t turning the heat on even though its falling below the temp I have it set on. If I play with the setting, turning it down and then back up, the heat will come on for a minute or so and then shut off again, never raising the temperature.  When I look at the Nest display, it says “Heating.”  But its not on. Anyone know what’s going on?  Its worked fine for about 6 months.

Normal heating operation may get disabled if the room temperature reaches (near) your safety temperature setting. Once that happens thermostat won't call for heat no matter what heat temperature you set, only "safety" temperature seems to be turning the heat on. This post contains the workaround, if this in fact is your issue:

Thanks but not sure if this is the issue.  My safety temperature is and has been set in like the 40s. Temp never gets close to that in house.
