Nest thermostat connected to a relay

CharlesG
Community Member

Hi,

I am looking to buy a nest thermostat but I was wondering if it would be compatible with my setup.

I have 2 baseboard heater connected with 12 volt connection.

I was wondering if I could connect one of the baseboard to the nest thermostat directly and then use a relay for the second baseboard to connect to the same nest?

thank you in advance,

Hello CharlesG,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry.

Millivolt systems are typically not compatible with Nest Thermostats such as wall heaters or floor heaters. This type of system uses much less electricity than low-voltage systems and can't deliver the right amount of power to Nest Thermostats. The Nest Thermostats require at least 24 V heating and cooling systems.

To be sure, could you share with us your thermostat's wiring setup and the make and model of your system?

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,
Mark
