Nest thermostat plug

Hi, we have a boiler furnace with no c wire so we installed the power adapter. Does the wire settings need to be updated for the plug? We recently received a battery low message. Thanks

Hi Red25,

Thanks for posting.

A few questions:

  1. What type of Nest thermostat do you have?
  2. When did the issue first occur?
  3. If the thermostat was recently installed: "What is the make and model of your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment?
  4. Are the power breakers on, and do you receive power to your home?
  5. Is the thermostat's display seated properly?
  6. Are all the wires of your thermostat seated firmly in its terminals (with no loose or exposed wires)?
  7. Does the thermostat charge with a USB cable?

Give these steps a try:

  1. Check the power readouts by going to Settings Technical Info Power. Take note of the Voltage Open Circuit (VOC), VIN, and IIN.
  2. Check if its a Wi-Fi issue by disconnecting the thermostat from the Wi-Fi network for 24 hours. If the battery doesn't drain, then the issue is likely a poor Wi-Fi connection, and the battery behavior is only a symptom.
  3. Check if there are any connector pins are bent on your thermostat's base.
  4. Ensure that the wires are connected properly.
  5. Charge the thermostat via a micro-USB cable for an hour.
  6. Return it back on its base. Check if you still receive the same message.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Mel
