Nest thermostat reset

Hi all ....Fault code 71..checked the usual 'move thermostat closer to heat link ' but no joy ......trying now to reset Thermostat so initially I turn off Thermostat and restart same to get rid of the fault code showing on the screen but when it restarts it always times out back to fault code before I can reach reset function ..tried several times but always my fingers are just too slow....surely this cannot be the only method to sort out this issue .........any easy fix ? thanks Sean

I know exactly where your coming from, but to get a factory reset you have to get the screen in working mode like you say. Trouble is when the screen shows the normal display, getting to the reset is like a challenge! This can be done, but you have to be really nimble. I am unaware of an easier way for the user, but it can be done. The design is stupid having a factory reset you cannot get to, and perhaps this post may get them thinking, but I doubt it. Probably factory reset in the Tech page display would be an idea!
