Nest thermostat turning on heating at night

My nest thermostat has been turning on the central heating randomly in the middle of the night. I’ve reset the unit, and also deleted and re-entered the programs,  but this doesn’t seem to solve the problem.

True radiant is off, autos schedule is off.

does anyone have any other suggestions? The u it is about 5 years old would replacing it with a new thermostat possibly solve the problem?

Hello Sacha1dog,

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your Nest Thermostat. Random activations can be frustrating, especially in the middle of the night. Since you've already tried resetting the unit and re-entering the programs, it's worth considering a few additional troubleshooting steps.

  1. Ensure that your thermostat has a stable and reliable Wi-Fi connection. A poor connection may lead to communication issues and trigger unexpected heating activations.
  2. Verify that the temperature sensor in your thermostat is working correctly. You can check the temperature readings against a separate thermometer to confirm accuracy.
  3. Remove all thermostat actions available in the Routines. You can find this in the Google Home app.
  4. Disable the Home and Away Assist in the thermostat settings.
  5. Restart the thermostat when changes have been made to its settings.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have more questions.

Best,
Mark
