I can't get my nest thermostat to add to my Google home app. I had to replace it and got the same one. Nothing fancy like the learning thermostat. Just the same regular one I had. It was on my Google home before but this one won't add. I don't understand what the issue is. I scan the QR code and it says it doesn't recognize the configuration. Using the code doesn't work either because it won't show options to confirm the serial number. What am I missing or doing wrong?

It looks like the learning 2nd or 3rd gen. I didn't know it was that one. I never got the packages or anything. I got it last year with my alarm package and they said it was the basic one. It went out less than a year later. Got a replacement and now the replacement won't add to my Google home like my original one was. It's the same item.

Nest Learning Thermostats must be setup using the Nest app. Once setup, it should then appear in the Home app if you're using the same account in both apps.

I actually figured it out with others help. I'm quite disappointed that you can no longer connect a nest thermostat to Google home without having the nest app too. It's a waste of space in my phone having an app for 1 device when all of my other Google devices connect directly with the home app.
