Nest thermostat won’t connect to wifi

I’ve had the Nest Learning stat for 2 years. It’s worked fine but the other day it stopped working with the nest app and I reset it, deleted it from the app, tried adding it, it won’t add because it won’t connect to wifi. I’ve reset my router. Not sure what else to do. Please help. @MelbaDT
thank you

Same issue just occurred.  Have 2 thermostats in house and one can't see any wifi SSIDs at all.    Is there a known issue or just bad luck?

Hey there,

Sorry for the delay but thanks for reaching out. I have some questions to better understand what's going on.

  1. Are you getting specific messages or codes on the Nest app or thermostat's displays when trying to get them connected to your WiFi network?
  2. If there are, what are they?
  3. Is it possible to have them connected to other WiFi networks or a mobile hotspot then observe how it goes?

Keep me posted.

Hey thanks for the answer. I haven’t tried connecting to a hotspot from my phone. The thermostat says it can’t find a network, my phone can find a few networks, even my neighbors. It’s like the thermostat lost the feature of finding a network. I typed in my network name and it says it can’t find it or can’t connect. And my phone and iPad are connected to the network I’m trying to connect the thermostat too. What should I do? Thank you.

Hey Joe7,

Got it — has this thermostat worked on this same WiFi network before? If yes, were there recent changes made on the thermostat itself or your WiFi before this started happening? Also, do you have a dual band router?

Checking back in — how's it going with your thermostats now? Let me know of the answers to my questions above so we could keep the ball rolling.

Had to replace my unit as well.  Kinda lame to have wifi die on the unit after just over 2 years of ownership...  Is there a systemic issue?  There seem to be a lot of posts about this in the archives.
