Mine is doing the same thing! Went to turn on the heat the other morning and it said it was restarting, it's been a blank black screen for days and now it randomly says it has a low battery. It's been fine for a month + previously.  Also,  could not get it to communicate with app or even conne to wifi

Hey all,

I wanted to follow up and see if I could be of any help. I found an article with some troubleshooting steps for when your device will not turn on. Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Best regards,
Jake

Hello Jake!

I took the unit off the wall and charged it for a couple hours via micro USB cable.  It was able to turn on long enough for me to get some information I saw another specialist ask about the battery,  VOC and VIN. The thermostat was powered on for about 2 hours and is completely dead again.

Hi there,

@Shelly1279, do you see any power messages on your Nest Learning Thermostat screen? I suggest charging your thermostat using a micro USB cable for at least an hour.

@Kthib3187, Nest Thermostats supported by the wires connected to it to continuously work. If your power wire is unable to provide power to your thermostat that's the time you'll encounter this kind of issue. Could you please charge your thermostat again using a micro USB cable? Once the thermostat shows you the screen, check its power readout by going to the Settings then look for Technical Info.

I appreciate your help, @Dianahemes and Jake.

Best,

Jenelyn

Hi Jenelyn,

It was working fine up until recently where it just restarts on its own,  and even after the green blinking light goes to yellow then goes to red,  it stays on red and will not work at all unless I take it off the wall and charge it with a USB cable.

I was able to charge it up enough to do what you asked,  this is the information that was shown:

Battery: 3.652V

Voc: 32.77V

VIn:32.77V

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by @Jenelyn_O@Jake, and @Dianahemes

@Shelly1279, were you able to read the information that Jenelyn_O, Jake, and Dianahemes has shared? Please let me know, as I would be happy to assist, and answer any questions you may have.

@Kthib3187, have you verified that the USB cable that you used was a micro-USB cable and was working with your other device?

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Zoe

Yes as I stated in my previous post, it will only work when I take it off the wall and charge it with a USB cable.

Hi Kthib3187,

Thank you so much for the information. Let's sort this out.

Please check your Nest Thermostat wiring diagram if all the wires are detected by going to the Settings and Equipment. On the other hand, can you verify if there's a wire that goes to C terminal of your Nest Thermostat base?

Best,

Zoe

Hello,

Yes all the wires are detected and yes I have the blue wire going to the C terminal
