Nest turning on AC when heat is turned on

Hey all

So like the title said I am having Trouble with the Nest turning on the AC fan and compressor when the heat is selected. I double and triple checked the wiring red going to R white going to W yellow going to Y green going to G and blue going to C.
I changed the batteries in the nest just in case and that still didn’t fix it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi folks,

@Wnr21710, thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. It looks like you have the Nest Thermostat 2020. I'd like to check your thermostat's configuration in the Google Home app.

Check the guide below:

  1. Open the Google Home app and then tap the thermostat and then tap Settings .
  2. Go to the Device Feature.
  3. Select Thermostat.
  4. Take a screenshot and share with us the information of the Equipment, Wiring, and System details

I appreciate your input, @Land1.

Best,

Jenelyn

Hey @Jenelyn_O

I’d like to say thank you for your reply and willingness to help. I figured out the problem and it was completely my fault. When setting up the nest it was during the summer so I did not need heat, however when I input my settings I had put that I had a heat pump (dummy). I factory reset my nest and re-set it up but this time chose the (I don’t know option) as my heat source and let the nest figure it out. Safe to say though I do not have a heat pump and instead have central heat.

Anyone else who is like me and set it up Willy Nilly and didn’t take into account for what you actually have this may be your problem.

Thank you to everyone that reached out to help.
