Nest wiring issue

nick_r
Community Member

Hi,

I'm switching from a Honeywell to a Nest thermostat.

The following wires are in use on the Honeywell one:

- R < red

- C < blue

- W-O/B < white

- Y < yellow

- G < green

On the Nest side I connected as follow:

Rh, C, W1, Y, G All my equipment (heating, cooling and fan) are detected. However, when performing a test, nothing fires up

I then moved the white wire from W1 to O/C to no avail.

Same when moving the red wire from Rh to Rc.

When putting the Honeywell thermostat back on, everything is working just fine.

What am I missing?

Hi nick_r,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with setting up your Nest Thermostat. I'd love to know more about this and I have a few questions:

  • What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
  • What type of HVAC system do you have?
  • Could you share a photo of how your current thermostat is wired?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Edward

The issue ended up being hardware related: defective base
