Nest won’t connect, won’t find wifi network, previously worked fine

For the last week, the NEST we have used in our home for over a year, says it can’t connect to wifi. In reality I suppose this began 2 weeks ago - the NEST app on my wife’s phone said to check the thermostat and replace the battery. I disconnected the round control portion from the wall (it’s hardwired where the old thermostat used to be), but found no battery. Reconnected and all was fine.

Fast forward to today, it won’t connect. Spent an hour last night going through the troubleshooting steps. Even manually entered the wifi details, password, fully reset the unit, and it still refuses to connect.  Deleted the unit from the app, etc. Nothing worked, it just won’t connect.

We use Xfinity for our home internet. All our other devices - phones, laptops, tv’s etc all connect fine. This is the only device that doesn’t/won’t. Like I mentioned above, previously it worked fine.

With the cold weather coming, we will need to use the thermostat and right now I’ve got something fairly worthless. Can anyone shed some light/steps

I am having the exact same issue and also got a new unit and it has the same issue- they suggested connecting to a hot spot but that is not helpful when I am traveling and want to adjust the temp.  Very frustrating… I called them again today and waiting for a call back

keeping the chain going in case anyone has a solution

Im afraid the only solution is to move to an alternative product. These devices have never had a software or hardware update, the issue we all experience hasn't been resolved. I moved to Hive (in the UK) some 15 months ago… never had an issue since. My only regret is going with Nest in the first place. I wish you luck, but Nest isn't the place to resolve your issues (based on my experience only)

Same problem here... all the above. So frustrating. Instead of preparing for Thanksgiving (and overnight company!) I'm freaking out about having a cold house for the holiday weekend. I will switch to Honeywell ASAP!!! Bye, Google.

Mine still held a temp manually without WiFi.

have tried all these and still will not connect

i have tried all the suggested fixes and no luck.  It would be nice to be able to connect with a tech person to discuss the issue.  I have two other cameras at my home that work fine on the same network!

I've gone through several ways to fix this, but nothing seems to work.

Im sorry to say i gave up on getting a workable replacement some 18 months ago now, the error message isnt fixable, the device itself hasnt had a hardware or software update for years now, Google know this is a problem…  im in the UK, and have had a Hive now for longer than I had the Nest, so can recommend that if it helps, but would never recommend the Google Nest to anyone im afraid.
