Nest won’t stay online

Estewolf

My Nest goes offline.  Will restart it to fix issue then it goes offline again within an hour or two.

no internet issues that are known in the house. House is small and wifi is right behind the next in the other side of the wall. 3 tvs, one alexa, 3 phones, two laptops and one iPad come and go in this house, but it doesn’t make a difference if everyone is asleep and devices Are being used or not. The next will not stay online no matter the conditions.

Hi,

Try the following:

  1. Press the thermostat ring to bring up the Quick View menu.
  2. Select Settings .
  3. Turn the ring and select Reset.
  4. Select Network.
  5. Select Reset to confirm

After it has completed the reset press the display 15 -18 seconds to reboot the thermostat.

Should work now.

If not check if you are connecting the thermostat to correct wifi frequency (2,4Ghz) or you can try to connect the thermostat to a mobile hotspot and see if he stays online.

Do you mean a factory reset? If I do that then I have to reinstall on my phone all over again and go through the obnoxious installation steps. I’ve done that 3 times.

Now your idea about mobile hotspot is interesting- but I wouldn’t be able

to cotnrol

it if I was not home. Sometimes my grandma calls me and asks me to adjust the temp when I’m not home and I wouldn’t be able to do that.

Hey folks,

p3n4ng4, thanks for your answer.

Estewolf, sorry to hear about what's going on with your Nest Thermostat. I want to test p3n4ng4c's theory if the cause of this random disconnection is only happening if the thermostat is connected to your home Wi-Fi. The best way to do this is to have the thermostat on another network like a mobile hotspot then observe if the same issue persists. I understand your hesitation about not being able to control it remotely if it is connected to your mobile hotspot so could you try this step when you'll be home for at least a day?

Best,

Melba
