Next thermostat with jumper cables

Hello!

I have a Nest thermostat. My original thermostat has a red cable into an R, and a jumper from there into RC. 

Am I able to just plug the red into the R on the nest, without jumper, and still have full function? Or, no I need a different thermostat, and if so, which one?

if you have the Nest Learning thermostat (more expensive unit) you will likely just use the R or RC slot on the Nest Thermostat but the setup guide should have told you where to put that.

Thanks for reaching out. The Nest Thermostat doesn't use any jumper wires. If you have the Nest Learning Thermostat, your power wire should be inserted to the RC or RH terminal. If you have the Nest Thermostat E or Nest thermostat 2020 it should be connected to the R terminal. 

For me to look at it further, please share with us the photo of the wires that are connected to your thermostat.

Hey TheChrisLo,

Thanks for getting back to us. Yes, it is supposed to have a full function as long as your power wire is connected to the Nest Thermostat power terminal. Please let us know if you still have questions in mind.
